Like every Signature round, it is cast in one piece and finished in Le Creuset's enamel, so heat spreads evenly and holds steady through a long simmer. The lid seats securely and recirculates steam, which keeps braises moist. A 9.4-inch interior fits smaller burners well and is a good shape for boules of bread, a pot of rice or grains, or a weeknight stew for two with leftovers.

It is a great first Dutch oven for smaller households. If you regularly cook for five or more, the 5.5 Qt. round gives you more headroom.

Because the enamel is fused to the cast iron, it needs no seasoning and will not react with acidic ingredients like tomatoes, wine, or citrus. Le Creuset cast iron is also the lightest per quart in the industry, which you will notice every time you lift a full pot.
