Ready to master the basics of sushi? Join Chef Carlos Baez, founder of Pride & Joy Provisions, for this hands-on Sushi class designed to teach the essential techniques you can confidently recreate in your own kitchen.
With more than 20 years of professional culinary experience—including leadership roles at The Anchorage and as Executive Chef of Mr. Crisp—Chef Carlos brings a thoughtful approach to cooking that is bold, vibrant, and rooted in quality ingredients. Throughout the evening, he'll guide you through the fundamentals of sushi making while sharing the techniques, tips, and traditions behind one of Japan's most celebrated cuisines.
You'll begin by learning about the key ingredients that make great sushi, with a special focus on preparing and seasoning perfectly balanced sushi rice. From there, you'll roll up your sleeves and practice three foundational styles of sushi, building confidence with each technique.
During class, you'll learn to make:
- Hosomaki (Traditional Thin Rolls)
- Uramaki (Inside-Out Rolls)
- Nigiri
Along the way, Chef Carlos will demonstrate proper rolling, shaping, and knife techniques while offering plenty of hands-on guidance to help you create beautiful, restaurant-quality sushi.
